It worked out ok. There was a couple of guys that were prominent in the community where I worked. I was never assaulted again and it was a rare occurrence.

"..100 years ago tonight, Edwin Hubble made the astronomical observation that definitively established the existence of the #universe beyond our own Milky Way galaxy.

His discovery of a Cepheid variable #star in the Andromeda Galaxy — famously labeled "VAR!" with red ink in Hubble's own hand on the plate — demonstrated beyond a doubt that Andromeda was a separate #galaxy from our own.."

Elmo strikes again!  If an employee of yours screwed up a business deal 1/8th as bad as Elmo has screwed up on this twitter deal, you might actually feed them to the hogs.  He has blown millions upon millions just from a complete lack of due diligence.

"...Elon Has To Pay The Legal Fees Of Former Execs He Fired

Elon Musk really seems to hate paying legal bills (or, really, any bills), but now he’s got a few more to cover. Bloomberg reported earlier this week that Kathaleen McCormick, Chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery (who is quite familiar with Elon Musk and Twitter) has ruled that exTwitter has to cover the legal fees of former CEO Parag Agrawal and former legal boss Vijaya Gadde.

At issue was that their contracts required that the company would cover their legal fees, and that should have covered legal work that was associated with the company even after they were fired (mainly Gadde testifying before Congress).

Despite timely written demand along with documentation from Plaintiffs through their counsel, the Company has not advanced to Plaintiffs their Expenses actually and reasonably incurred related to the various Proceedings. Over two months after Plaintiffs initial written demand, the Company offered only a cursory acknowledgement of receipt, but still refused to acknowledge its obligations and to remit payment of any invoices. Defendant has breached the Agreements and contravened its Bylaws..."

"..Josh Marshall tells you everything you ever wanted to know — and then some — about Arkansas' "Podiumgate" story. Sarah Huckabee Sanders! Money! Secrecy! Circumvention of FOIA requessts! Lies!

And corruption galore! The kind of corruption that can only be conjured up nowadays in a state totally controlled by Republicans, especially bible-belt ones. The kind of corruption the US hasn't seen since the gilded age.

"...When the gavel came crashing down Tuesday afternoon, declaring the Office of the Speaker of the House vacant, Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), the Senate president pro tempore, found herself one step higher on the ladder of presidential succession.

Murray confirmed her upgraded place in the line of succession during an interview with the New York Times Wednesday, acknowledging the new and temporary — although unclear for how long — reality.

“It’s not the trappings of it. It’s really the job of it,” Murray told he Times. “I have a job to do and it’s really important, and I want to make sure that I’m successful at it.”

It’s a job – and a “constitutional role” as her office put it – the senator has always taken very seriously, her spokesperson said in response to TPM’s inquiries about her new status. As the Succession Act of 1947 makes clear the line of succession to replace the U.S. president goes vice president, Speaker of the House, Senate President pro tempore, followed by a line of cabinet members.

Further: “If the offices of President and Vice President are vacant simultaneously, the Speaker of the House of Representatives acts as President, after resigning from the House and from the office of Speaker. If the speakership is also vacant, the President pro tempore of the Senate acts as President,” according to a 2020 Congressional Research Service report..."
