This is really good news. Lyme disease cases jumped by more than 40% from 2022 to 2023, likely because of
climate change and Trump.
Now, the main treatment for Lyme Disease is doxycycline. But that might change."
In today’s Health Alert, tick season is back and so is the threat of Lyme disease. But, there is good news on the medical front. Two new studies point to better treatment on the horizon.
Much like black mold, climate change, Autism, ADHD, spider bites, Covid and many other things in life, Lyme Disease is probably imagined more than it is real.
Here's the straight skinny (as I see it) :
"Even if you are bitten by an infected tick, the risk of contracting Lyme disease is not guaranteed. The tick needs to be attached for a significant period (around 24-36 hours) to transmit the bacteria. "
Not all ticks carry Lyme disease. "Lyme disease is caused by bacteria that is spread to humans by tick bites. The ticks that carry the spirochete are:
Black-legged deer tick (northeastern, mid-Atlantic, and North-Central U.S.)
...and not all those ticks are infected.
Who is at risk?
Mostly the weak and hysterical. The best thing to do is: never go outside unless it's absolutely necessary and then wear full clothing, a number 50 sun screen, DEET, hand sanitizer a N95 particle mask and nitrile gloves. It also helps to dye your hair purple, get a tattoo and maybe a nose ring.
