My grandfather was a postal worker. He wasn't well off but not poor either.
Not many Appalachian dirt farmers had postal jobs. When I quit the Post office in 1998 I was making $20 an hour which was good money for 1998.

I certainly did.
I guess you're too old to beat people up now. I had to give up fist fighting when my body refused to do what I wanted it to do. I can still make it to the bathroom by myself though. That's something. I know some people who can't.

Kids have no skills today. College has become largely a false promise in the US.  It's a hundred grand for a four year degree and it doesn't really qualify you for anything if you have no job experience. And realistically, kids may not even be trying anymore. Who can blame them? Houses, cars, rent, college....all prohibitively expensive now. There's chaos in the streets, healthcare is a luxury...
bitching and sniveling is a skill.

My generation - born in the 60's may be the last generation that grows up in America as it was at its shining best. We may never be able to fully recover from the massive amount of damage that the Obama/Biden gang did to our nation in a very short period of time - a mirror of what similarly hate mongering desperadoes in Western Europe have done to their people in rapid fashion.

I mellowed out like a fine wine. For a long time now.

Obama screwed up things for years to come. And jumpin jack Pelosi helped.

Also, I was watching Gilligan’s Island and The Munsters when I was a kid, not Grand Theft Auto and Fck Da Police.

Getting old’s a relief. As time passes, one by one I realize the things that I stressed out about for years actually don’t really matter and what does matter I already got.

So you're not jumping 25 year olds in bars. Got it.

Not since the early 70s.

When I was a little kid, being patriotic was awesome and being anti-American was definitely unpopular. Our culture was wholesome, morality was upheld - particularly respect for authority and one’s elders. There’s a benefit to all that.

I miss being able to see. I didn't know what a big deal that was going to be. I don't do a lot of ordinary little things because I can't see shit. That limits how you interact with the environment. i wonder if that screws you up psychologically, causes dementia or something. Or I could just go to an eye doctor and get real glasses.

I'm using my new ceramic heater now and it's great. I also have my electric blanket. It's good too. I like staying warm when it's cold.
