Coyotes have too much class to dirty themselves with chicken-killing. A fox killed my ducks. I accepted that because foxes are not malicious creatures. It was a mink that killed the chickens. That was a bloodbath. These are a subsequent batch of chickens that my daughter got when she still had an interest in it and took care of them. They wrecked my vintage barn, attract mice, desecrate my patio, torment the cats, destroy the garden.... Gus and me are thinking the same thing...
...I wish I wouldn't have banished the mink. I see now how he served a useful purpose in the ecosystem.

Those ducks would answer me when I called them and then come running out of the trees quacking. They were messy though. A mink is like the size of a squirrel. It's insane the carnage they can perpetrate.

It's crazy how big the Detroit airport is. Detroit isn't even that big of a city anymore. Most of it's in ruins. I can't handle going there. That alone prevents me from flying. The thought of flying into the side of a mountain and bursting into flames or being blown up by a crazed muslim doesn't faze me. But trying to park my car at the airport's a deal breaker. The whole scene's a nightmare. I used to drink at the airport, on the plane (and in the bathroom of the plane with the pint in my backpack). I also would take valium sometimes and pack a cigarette pack with 20 machine-rolled marijuana cigarettes for the trip. That was pre-muslim flying. I haven't been inside the belly of the beast since before 9/11/01. I'm out. The soulless bastards also ruined Canada for me. Now they treat that shit like an international border instead of just a toll booth.

I'm never going to Massachussettes either. That's just too easterly for me. The Irish side of my family is from "back East" (naturally). I suppose technically all of them were if they came through Ellis Island. I think the Italians had to use the service entrance though (the Irish were manning the gate). My direction of choice is north. It is the direction of White Flight and progress in Michigan. It's the path of least resistance. I am a Northerner...soy norteno.

OK. My wife's out of town. I already ate a gummy. I ate two. I might even smoke pot in the house and blow the smoke out the basement window. Guilt-free living. It's almost like not being Catholic.

That is where I sat watching out the window as they brought my, and only my, luggage out on a cart and left it sit. I spent the time waiting for a connecting flight wondering if my kit would make it onto the plane with me. It did.
