And yet, tv was 10,000 times better back then. The first show I saw in color was Flipper. I was amazed that the credits were yellow.

When I got older, the only thing I wanted to see visiting my parents house in Florida was to go to the Miami Seaquarium.

I don't think I ever watched Flipper, but I know the show. The tv belonged to good ol' dad. I read books. I was into American Bandstand after school and things like that.

Tampa has a pretty decent aquarium. A glass tunnel through it and all.

Cuba 🇨🇺 has just recorded its lowest temperature on record this morning, with 0.0°C (32°F) at Indio Hatuey. This marks the first time in recorded history that the country has officially reached the freezing point.

Cuba’s gone to shit since Fidel died.

I've never even seen meth...or crack for that matter. They didn't have that when I was a kid.

I see it almost everyday.

Used to like it better than coke.  More bang for the buck. Couple lines up the nose and drink all night long, drive fine the whole time.
Few more lines and party for days.

But ya gotta be careful it doesn't grow into a monkey.

"..Can't have it both ways. Either a business can refuse service for any reason or they can't. You all were behind the baker who went all the way to scotus because he felt the Colorado human rights commission treated him unfairly because he refused to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple on religious beliefs. Now the shoe is on the other foot, people refuse to serve your goons because of guess what, sincerely held beliefs about human rights that counter yours. Pick a damn lane.."

There was a couple of summers that I remember people snorting coke all over like it was nothing - in the rich neighborhoods. People were saying it wasn’t addictive. They were real casual about it. My heroin addict older brother would dissolve it in water and inject it into a vein. He called it “kiddie dope”.  As I recall, it didn’t take more than a year or two before that blew up in everyone’s face.

I was a drinker. I’m surprised I survived that. I cringe when I think of the shit I thought was normal back then. It’s a miracle I didn’t die in a car or get shot. It was a different time. Everyone drank at lunch, after work, pretty much any chance there was. That’s why cars used to only last for like 60,000 miles back then. Everyone in Detroit was drinking at work.

I just smoke weed now that they made it legal.

I didn't worry about my driving until about beer 20.

"..Here’s How Many ICE and CBP Agents Allegedly Preyed on Children

ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection employed at least 30 people with sexual and violent criminal histories in recent years, according to a report published Monday by the Ohio Immigrant Alliance with research from the Pacific Antifascist Collective.

At least 20 of those individuals committed offenses with underage victims, according to the report.

The 30 listed individuals have been charged with a wide litany of crimes, including gunpoint sexual assault, child sex trafficking, aggravated assault, robbery, rape, torture, kidnapping, sexual abuse of a minor, and possession and production of child sexual abuse materials.

Their transgressions occurred between 2015 and 2025, with the bulk of abuse happening within the last two years.

ICE Reportedly Stole a 10th Grader’s Phone, Then Seemingly Sold It for Cash

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents reportedly stole a teenage boy’s phone — and then seemingly pawned it afterwards for cash.

Federal Agents Left Behind “Death Cards” After Capturing Immigrants

When family members arrived on the scene in Eagle County, Colorado, their loved ones had already been disappeared by federal agents. But what they found inside the vehicles was disturbing: a customized ace of spades playing card — popularly known as a “death card” — that read “ICE Denver Field Office.”

We Found More Than 40 Cases of Immigration Agents Using Banned Chokeholds and Other Moves That Can Cut Off Breathing

‘Madness’: two US citizens violently detained by ICE in Minnesota, officials say

Two US citizens who are employees of a Minnesota Target store were detained by federal immigration agents, before at least one was dumped in a different parking lot, community leaders and a Democratic politician have alleged.
...
A later clip posted on X purports to show one of the two in a distressed state at a different parking lot. In the clip, he is crying, and a bystander is heard saying that he is bleeding, although blood is not visible in the video. “They threw me on the fucking ground,” he says between sobs.

Minneapolis man says ICE agents took 'trophy' photos, locked him in overcrowded cell

Gibson said that after they arrived at the Whipple Federal Building near MSP airport, where ICE has a detention facility, the agents paused and forced him to take part in an act of ritual humiliation.

“They took trophy pictures with their personal phones. Like one stood by me on the right side of me. One stood on the left side of me. And they went, like, thumbs up and took pictures with their personal phones,” he said, adding that agents took similar photos with other detainees.

“I Erase Your Voice”: ICE Agents Threaten People After Alex Pretti

Federal officers stationed in Minnesota don’t seem to be interested in lowering the temperature.

An ICE agent issued a chilling warning to a legal observer Tuesday, informing them that if “you raise your voice, I will erase your voice.”

“Are you serious? You said if I raise my voice, you will erase my voice?” the observer asked incredulously.

“Yes, exactly,” the agent responded.

One of our drinking games was, "road side sobriety test" We got pretty good at it and it kept many of us out of jail.

Saved my bacon more than one night.  Particularly the night a bar had $1 LI ice teas all night. I was not at all sober. When the 3rd cop pulled up I was sure I was had but apparently I tested well enough and drove away.

Tragic chest radiograph shows the lungs of a 21-year-old dental nurse after she attempted to end her life by injecting 10ml of elemental mercury intravenously. Miraculously, she survived.

(Attachment Link)

Why was there mercury at dentists offices? One of my favorite toys when I was a small child was my glass vial of mercury that my brother stole when we were at the dentist. I could pour it out on my school desk in 2nd grade and then sweep it back into the vial.

That shit happened today, they would have torn down the school, put my parents in jail and put me in an orphanage and turned me into a transvetite with purple hair and a nose ring.

I wonder what happened to that little bottle of mercury.

A school mate of mine had a pill bottle half full of mercury. It was a fun toy.

They let me go most of the time up until a point. Now? You get caught drunk driving in Michigan, you get more than for sticking up a liquor store. It's crazy what they put people through. 20k easy, jail, rehab, probation, no license, car forfeited, pissing in a cup on random days.
I just got fined, spent a few nights in jail, made me watch one of those movies they show you in driver's ed of people mangled in car accidents. "Mechanized Death"...that was the name of the movie. Right after, I went to the bar across the street from the jail and half the class was in there.

Don't even have to be drunk anymore, or not even intoxicated at all.  Big scandal over in TN, over the last couple years some 2K sober people have been arrested for DUI.
