What was really fortunate for me was that my dad owned a shop so I picked up technical and business skills just by virtue of being brought up in that environment and working in those positions. I preferred being in the shop as opposed to the office because no one could talk to me in the back of the house. The best thing I picked up in college was the work experience I gained working for the university food service. That actually came in handy. Oddly, no one's ever asked me about Plato or Medieval history in the workplace...yet.
