"In 1994, voters approved a constitutional amendment to increase the sales and use tax rate as part of a school finance reform package. An additional 2 percent was added for a total state-wide rate of 6 percent, where the rate stands today."   

I was totally unaware of this. I thought it was still 4%. When I was in business, I had to have a license as - basically - a tax collector for the state, like that one guy in the Bible that pals around with Jesus and the gang.  But I refused to play the White man's game because I could never keep enough change in the register and handling coins seems a lot dirtier and logistically burdensome than it was worth so all my prices were even dollar amounts "tax included" and I reverse engineered what the price would have had to have been to arrive at the even amount and paid the tax. But I did so with rebellion in my heart - not because I am anti-tax but because I am anti the government forcing me to do their bookkeeping. I got my own problems.
