I have heard it said that one of the reasons we get folks who think like you do and politicians like trump is that societal changes that used to take 100 years or more now happens in just a few years or less. The world is moving too fast for some to keep up and it profoundly unsettles many folks.

Toss in that 100 years used to be near 3 adult generations and now we tend to live longer.
Theres zero crime where I live. There’s no rioting, there’s no stealing, robbery or rape. There’s no bullet proof glass at the bank, no bars on the windows, no razor wire and we can pump our gas before we pay. The town cop works 9 to 5 if you need him. It has always been like this for people like me and it always will be. 100 years ago, my grandparents were in Europe doing the same thing.
….but you know….diversity and all that.
