I have a Craftsman jointer that I bought at a flea market for $35 and a WEN thickness planer. That and a table saw make it easy to mill construction lumber into anything I want it to be. I have the Harbor Freight router table too that does tongue and groove. It's like the pioneers. They made their own furniture - Shaker style - functional, humble, Godly.

The Shakers were a drug gang that was largely wiped out by rival syndicates during the 'Mormon Wars' in central Ohio during the 1800's.  I'm pretty sure.

I saw this picture somewhere. I'm going to build 4 kitchen chairs. the dog Willow destroyed our old ones.

Eventually all the furniture in this house will be made of scrap wood I picked up at job sites. It's so much easier than having to drive somewhere and deal with buying furniture.

They would be nice with a golden brown finish. I used to buy garage sale wood furniture and refinish it myself. My Father bought me a small sander. It worked like magic.

Good furniture is hard to find and when you do, it cost a fortune.

It was crazy. I would get solid oak, pine, aspen, you name it. I never paid more than 10 bucks apiece.

I really cleaned up at one garage sale. The couple was getting divorced. She cheated on him. He was living in the house and selling all the furniture she had picked out for next to nothing.

Our family business is steel working. So when I was growing up everything was built out of steel. I used to build everything that way but I sold my welder and band saw. Now I make everything out of wood.

The sky’s great in the winter. The air is clear and stable. But it’s just too damn cold here in the middle of night in the middle of winter to be wandering around outside
