A small town in Michigan did everything right to stop OpenAI & Oracle from building a $16 billion data center in their town.

The people of Saline Township flooded their council meeting, put up signs all over town, and convinced their officials to reject it.

The officials voted against the data center 4-1, and that should have been the end. But two days later the developers sued, and the town couldn’t afford to fight back in court.

We are not a free nation when billion-dollar corporations can take over the land of our communities and towns. We are a captive nation ruled by corporations and billionaires."

When I was a little kid, they had these on telephone poles in Detroit. That was before The Battle for the Planet of the Apes made such conveniences impossible.

ONLY IF IT WAS 10 FEET AWAY. SHOTGUNS ARE NOT GOOD FOR ANYTHING VERY FAR AWAY ESPECIALLY A 10 GAUGE, WHICH IS MORE FOR CLEARING OUT A BAR ROOM. IF YOU WANT TO TAKE OUT A DRONE, I WOULD SUGGEST A GOOD RIFLE..

We lived near this Michigan Bell building called the Niagara Central Office. I have no idea what went on in there. I imagined rows of women with headsets  plugging wires into swtchboards like in the old movies. I don't know if that's what really what happened. But during the riots, they were dead sure nothing was going to happen to that building. They had sand bags and machine guns on top, concertina and armor blocking all the streets and soldiers all over the place. There was a curfew. I think we had to be inside by 9 or something. You couldn't buy alcohol or gasoline. Detroit was a showpiece prior to and in decline thereafter. Now it's a Third World dump. Same thing happened to every city in the US.

That was one of my first memories. That summer. My brother was in Vietnam and Detroit was being sacked by mobs of marauding negroes. Then came the Detroit - St. Louis World Series, Apollo 11.  It was a crazy stretch. I was living on a commune in Goose Lake that year turning on, tuning in and dropping out. I got caught up in the Timothy Leary Psychedelic thing. The whole acid scene turned out to be a drag, especially since I was only like 4.
