"California will raise the minimum wage for health care workers to $25 per hour over the next decade under a new law Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Friday.

The new law is the second minimum wage increase Newsom has signed. Last month, he signed a law raising the minimum wage for fast food workers to $20 per hour."

It's crazy how much it takes to live even a modest lifestyle.  Raising the minimum wage to 15 is still not that much.  8 or whatever it is now is laughable.

As much as "they" (the Royal 'they') should raise wages, something has to be done about the cost of basic necessities like housing, cars, healthcare, utilities, etc.

It's a peculiar kind of vulgarity that I am having trouble putting into words. But the mentality of the type of person that would value a "McMansion" is of the most shallow and detestable sort. It is emblematic of something repulsively ugly and seemingly unique to Americans and it makes me cringe.

I had to pick up a taillight bulb for the work truck last week.  I was pleased to find that it was only $1.50.  How can it be that this one item has escaped inflation?
