Yeah, not AZ, republicans. We need to work on these headlines.

my buddy from New York City used to brag to me all the time in a  rather perverse kind of prideful way about how easy it was to get mugged and murdered in New York City. I didn't have the heart to tell him that the murder rate in Houston at that time was four times higher than the murder rate in New York City.

Down the street on Westview road where I worked one time in a warehouse..in a  convenience store there a security guard
shot a man in the back and killed him for stealing a pack of baloney. Nobody batted an eye.

There was another case in Houston where Houston cop shot a man 12 times. The cop actually had to reload to do it. He said he had to do it because he didn't know for sure if the guy had a gun on him or not. The man he shot was a lawyer. He was standing naked next to his own bed. 🙄

Sadly, that kind of thing has not been rare.  We have had a few local cases over the years that were similar.

In the 1930s the head of the Houston zoo had a running dispute with the chief of police in Houston. Coincidentally he was gunned down by police who said he resisted arrest for some kind of traffic infraction..

in the 1980s in Houston at an apartment complex on Gulfton road in southwest Houston Police kicked in a man's door and gunned him down like a dog. Without a warrant. They said they had a drug tip. He was a hard-working Mexican guy with a family. His young pregnant wife had to watch while he was murdered. None of the cops got in trouble. Of course there were no drugs.

It hasn't been that long since the police there murdered the Tuttles.  And now have jailed the auditor who broke the case.

Also in the 1980s Houston cops handcuffed a Latino Vietnam War veteran and threw the  man in  Buffalo bayou where he drowned. This made headlines but I don't think the cops got punished.

There are somethings beyond "state's rights", to be a country we have to have a national standards for the big basics, reproduction is one of those.
