I've known about her since Kanye got up on stage and said the MTV Music Award should go to Beyoncé - when Taylor was 19ish. I don't listen to her music but I like her politics and I like that she writes and sings all of her own songs and is prolific.
I don't idolize or worship her or any celebrity - today is International Women and Girls in Science Day. I do idolize someone like Neil deGrasse Tyson, Marie Curie....This is like me going to the movies - it's fantasy as far as I'm concerned as is much of what's on TV. You watch TV, I don't go into a diatribe about what you watch or who you watch.
I'm shocked that you would think I'm that shallow.
I re-read my post. Didn't see where I said you were shallow. But I certainly think Americans spend way too much time deifying actors and musicians and other celebrities. It's truly sickening. My "diatribe" as you put it wasn't aimed at you. But when you said the ONLY reason you were watching the Super Bowl was because of Swift, admittedly it set me off. As for Tyson, I admire you more than I do him. You succeeded scholastically despite raising kids and dealing with life's everyday problems, the kind of problems Tyson hasn't endured as a hero of certain segments. Tyson is worth 5 million bucks, which makes the everyday striving we all do much easier.
You know what? You're a hero. To me. And you don't even get paid to give lectures like Tyson.
I admire everyday people. That's just how it is.
