There are somethings beyond "state's rights", to be a country we have to have a national standards for the big basics, reproduction is one of those.

However if I can't hold office in this secular society because of my beliefs perhaps I should not be bound by the laws this secular society passes because of my beliefs...

it might be upheld at the Supreme Court of the United States as well. But is it a fetus or an embryo?

You could always move to russia, like those Canadians did.    It is the non-negotiable part that is at issue. Democracy requires compromise, if you cannot compromise your beliefs then you have no business in government at any level.

At the point in question, an embryo.   

But I guess if you are in AL and have 40 of them frozen then you can take all 40 as child tax deductions now.

As backwards as Alabama is in many respects it is unfortunately still superior to North Carolina. It's even very hard to get medical marijuana in this state of North Carolina. Even the alcohol laws are backwards and convoluted.

I can't see how an embryo unfertilized could be considered a human being. That's like saying a spermatozoa is a human being.

It would appear that the state of Alabama has gone too far. Also in the area of pharmaceuticals and biological sciences it will put Alabama at the very back of the pack.

I am no so sure that the plan is not to run off everyone but the loons from "red" states so they can create little right wing enclaves.
