Read the fine print - it's not about migrants about where is the funding coming from.
The resolution says, “The City Council will not allocate public funds, services, or staff resources for migrant support.” The resolution also directs the federal government to act on this issue.
Danielle Jurinsky is the sponsor of the resolution. She spoke at the committee meeting earlier this month.
“If you are going to bring (migrants) in here, if you’re going to bus them in here, we’re asking for an IGA (intergovernmental agreement), we’re asking for that financial support to follow. We will not be shutting down taxpayer services to fund this. So, nowhere in here does it say migrants can’t come to Aurora,” Jurinksy said.
Meanwhile, Denver has asked every department in the city to cut money from their budgets while planning for a $180 million budget for migrants
******Again - So, nowhere in here does it say migrants can’t come to Aurora,” Jurinksy said.******
