It's really too bad the Western Culture has seen fit to condition us to associate the smell of flowers with our almost surrealistically ghastly and nonsensical funerary practices. My mom used to say she didn't like gladiolus because they reminded her of funerals. Now I don't like them because they remind me of my mom saying that.
