The Chinese, as reptilian and soulless as they may be have revolutionised the amateur telescope market in a very dramatic and positive way. And they're very nice about it.  About a year or two ago two thirds of the telescope industry evaporated when two American (originally) companies tanked simultaneously- Orion and Meade. Then out of nowhere came this company SVBONY (The name is an acronym for Saturn, Venus, Birding, Optics, Nature, and Youth....like a GD fortune cookie,huh?). The prices are so low for equipment that is well built, high quality that it seems completely out-of-whack to the point where you think something must be wrong but it's great stuff. They blow everyone else out of the water right now.
