To get a poinsettia to bloom again you just have to keep it alive through the year by not over-watering it and then about two months before the next Christmas you have to make sure it gets like 16 hours of TOTAL darkness every day - even a porch light shining through a window will screw it up. The 'blooms' aren't really flowers. They're just pigmented leaves. The whole racket was controlled by an unscrupulous crime family until very recently. It really has nothing to do with Christmas. That was a brilliant marketing ploy.
