Dogs will chase off cougars and bears. Children are the perfect sized prey for cougars. Several years ago some idiot kindergarten teacher took her class on a hike through a well known cougar area in B.C. Of course a cougar attacked. It was only because the bimbo thought to bring her German Shepard that the kids were ok.
