"Attacks on people with albinism (often referred to as ritual or superstitious violence) involve abductions, mutilations, killings, and grave desecrations, primarily in parts of sub-Saharan Africa. Perpetrators target individuals with albinism believing their body parts (bones, hair, limbs, skin) possess magical properties that can bring wealth, success, political power, or protection when used in rituals or "muti"/witchcraft preparations. These attacks are driven by deep-rooted myths, poverty, and a black-market trade where body parts can fetch high prices."
