"..I’ve struggled with how to refer to the U.S. Supreme Court, which no longer functions as a genuine court. The European Court of Human Rights faced the same problem when discussing Poland’s high court. ECHR had a good solutions. They referred to it as “the issuing body”.."

How AI is Devouring the Economy

I didn't think my job would be touchable because it takes a lot of years to have the experience I have and you also have to be reasonably fit because it's fairly physical although not exactly chain gang. I have to move all over the place between areas of a building and machines and different tools I use. So I figured that's just physically too much complex movement for a machine to efficiently duplicate. You could probably train a monkey after a while but not a machine.

Here's how it can happen and probably already is... Big chunks of houses are prefabbed in a shop, trucked (eventually by driver-less trucks) to the job and assembled. There will be robot tenders and people tending computers that analyse every movement and cross-reference that against every shred of financial data related to the movement and calibrate it for maximum return on investment. Everything is timed, video'd, recorded. All family owned business....cabinet shops, tool and die, veterinary clinics, dental offices, funeral homes, houses, are being snapped up by private equity groups, the long-term expensive employees are replaced and AI  overseas the management of the robots and the interpretation of all the data and making things ever-more cost effective and concentrating the accumulated wealth among a smaller slice of the population. It's feudal.  It is abso-fucking-lutely dystopian and I'm glad most of my life was lived before this evil shit descended upon our species because I think it'll be our ruin.

Also, why the fuck are people shopping insurance companies instead of doctors and fearing coverage being denied more than whatever cancer is eating them? It's insane.  All this crazy shit happened during my lifetime.

".. It's feudal.."   BINGO!  That is exactly what republicans are working toward, the feudal system. The serfs will be poor, hungry, will own nothing, and this time around "The Church" will have no moderating effect. The few folks at the very top will take what they want, do what they want, and once again make laws that keep you down and not slow them down.

We are watching it happen in real time.

There will be no more pensions - there are almost none now. Houses are unaffordable. The average house in America is 400 grand. Cars are 50k. Simultaneously, jobs are $15 an hour packing boxes at Amazon warehouses or sweeping the floor at Walmart...until drones do that. There are no more architects, estimators, artists, realtors or writers. That is all gone.  "machinists" sit at keyboards with clean hands. A $100,000 bachelor's degree gets you  minimum wage.  We're there.
Next is population reduction.

Democrats on the other hand want population reduced to 500,000 worldwide. Only obedient citizens living in 15 minute cities will be left. They will eat whatever the government deems necessary and will only receive that and a small cubicle to live in. They will be happy with it.

Yeah...I'm pro-that. The realistic carrying capacity of this planet is about a billion humans - and that's really being generous. Consider how much cleaner, safer and more prosperous this world would be if only like people of European, Japanese, Korean descent maybe a smattering of Latinos or Hispanics (whatever they call themselves)  and various others survived some natural (or otherwise) cataclysm... I think it's about to happen. I hope we get to witness it and survive...like the pandemic. Maybe we'll get checks again.

I don't know what just happened to me. It was like being in a science fiction movie. It was sunny and like 60 everything was humming along then all the sudden it was the middle of January for a few days...cold, snow, freezing darkness, despair, hopelessness...the full gamut of Januarian horror. I guess things are back to normal now. The snow's gone anyhow.
Man. I really need to win the lottery. That would make things so much better. `

Much like the duality of 'summer' and 'winter' diesel fuel, I have adopted that very same binary approach to substance abuse. I've switched over to winter weed. Since my wife forces me to smoke weed outside like a teenager, chain smoking shitty weed becomes unbearable because of the climate here. Hence the change-over. I buy the weed the kids smoke by the gram. It takes much less to achieve that state of well being. Living in the country has its seasons. It's all very scientific.

Damn. If I was a foot tall this reefer plant I sprouted  from a $15 seed and spent 3 months on would be stunningly impressive.

I'm still going to dry it and smoke it. There's probably a good 1/32nd  of an ounce there.

"...“He’s Fuc-king Guilty,” Social Media Blows Up As Trump Walks Out On Press

On Wednesday, President Trump ignored questions from reporters about newly released emails suggesting past misconduct. During a bill signing in the Oval Office, he stayed silent, signed the document, and left as staff quickly ushered the press out..."

Archaeological evidence suggests that if Neanderthals were alive, they could outfight, outlift, and outlive everyone today.
