Look Faith while you have the opportunity why don’t you just buy some really strong weed for a change?  It’s going to be miserably cold for months… your state is turning into a liberal miserable shit hole…. Why not get fucked up…tore up from the floor up?
You have no idea how unfair this is. It's 10 degrees. A shitty December and a late spring could add two months of winter here. It's my worst fear and it's being realized.  We have to jump start this whole 'global warming' thing.

The Sun is a more present and readily observable object than most things floating around out there. It seems absurd to neglect it. If I were a Neanderthal, the Sun would be my god...and I would convince the other Neanderthals that I spoke for the Sun and to give me a portion of their huntings and gatherings as a tribute...

We have a few sea gulls that are permanent residents but every few winters the population dramatically increases. I reckon that happens when you get bad winters up there and they fly south looking for open water.

I guess we will see soon.
The marinas here fill up with geese from the arctic during the winter.

Some of those guys with expensive boats have them removed from the water, shrink wrapped and put on cradles. Other have some kind of bubblers or impellers to keep the water from freezing. I'm glad I never had a boat. They are an enormous, expensive burden.  There's a subculture of people here that hang around in those marinas on their boats and wander back and forth from one boat or canal house or bar to the next...the whole culture is centered around drinking. I couldn't imagine living on one of those canals. The noise bounces off the water and those people party until dawn every night of the week all summer.

I don't mind 30's or even 20's but this bitter cold shit sucks. I can't stand having to wear a coat. It's been like this for a while and moving forward, it's not like it's going to get better in January.

....that's what I would have done....and for Christ sake I'd have the courtesy to leave a rambling, disjointed 'manifesto'.

A long time ago I used to read this magazine called National Lampoon. One of the things they did was to feature 'letters to Santa'. The one from Julian Lennon said "Dear Santa, I'm asking again for the same thing I asked for last year - and when I woke up, the bitch was still alive."

The general rule of thumb is 10% of the boat price is what it will cost you to run and maintain it. More in some places, less in others, and it depends on how much you actually use it. Booze and food is extra.

Close to 2 in of snow here and still coming down. A balmy 26 deg atm.
