I'm thinking about chain-watching the original Star Trek series from like 1967. Some cable network is playing uit. It was really way ahead of its time. One of the people involved was a good science fiction writer - Ray Bradbury. Maybe he wasn't involved. Maybe he just hung around with the guy that made it.
I thought Star Wars was ahead if it’s time too, in visual effects mostly.

I just watched a Bulgarian AI video.
It was a grandma, a girl, and the girl’s boyfriend. He is eating crawfish.
The girl: “Grandma, do you like my new boyfriend?”
The Grandma: “Not at first, but the way he’s sucking in those crawfish, if you don’t want him, I’ll take him.”
Jesus Christ. You went from talking dirty to that? Damn. You really know how to kill a mood.

They made a big deal about the special effects. It’s crazy to think how long ago that was.

I didn’t make it. I just watched it. And I’m still talking dirty with the AI. Well, he’s talking dirty. I just make him suffer cause I’m not putting out.

Mine was "free" this morning on account of the service contract. The concerning part was this is the 3rd time that 3 year old unit has had the same issue.

This time the tech claimed it was wired wrong. Well, guess who did the work last time....
Yeah had the same problem with my furnace many years ago. The tech came and said it was fixed. Stopped working again in 2 days. Called the same company and they sent a different tech. This one tried to convince us the furnace was finished but we could buy a good one from them for only about 3k. He got it working and we declined the offer for a new furnace. Broke down again a couple of weeks later in the middle of January.. I scoured the listings and found a guy that lives a three hour drive from here. Semi retired and only worked when he wanted. He  showed up at dawn, replaced the filter and a few other things the previous company had purposely? fcked up. That was 15 years ago. Furnace still works.

What a pity. I’m sure with your accent it would be devastating.

I just have to get a kerosene heater to cover us in case power goes out in the winter.

As I found out during the big ice storms of a few years ago, after a few easy winters where I didn't need it I had slacked badly on my winter prep, kerosene fortunately has a long shelf life.  Had it not burned I would have been in bad shape, but it did and I had enough to last a few days until the road had been cleared and I could get out to hunt for more.

I always have kersosene. There's a kerosene pump at the gas station in town. Probably still a fair number of tractors burn that. We have that crock well in the yard too with a hand pump on it. That's a life saver. When we lose electricity...the water goes out too.

We live so much better than 90% of the human population. Even poor people in America have more than almost everyone. Our crises are the third car breaks down or internet goes out. I've never been truly hungry or cold. Half the world probably doesn't have electricity and they're burning twigs to stay warm.  It's the Neanderthal gene...we have adapted.

I just fear for our childrens' future in a country where basic necessities like houses and automobiles and health care seem to have become luxury items and 90% of the jobs are working at Amazon "fulfillment centers" or "door dash".
