I was looking at those "power banks", which are I guess rechargeable batteries, maybe some kind of step-up transformer or induction coil. I might be better off just using my power tool batteries. I must have 4 or 5 20 volt Dewalt batteries and some kind of fixture that fits them that has a bright led light and various jacks to recharge a phone or whatever. I have a rechargeable tv and other battery operated lights, etc. They've really come a long way with all that shit - rechargeable batteries, low voltage lights, etc.
When there's a storm coming, we usually fill up some buckets with water too in case we lose power and can't use the well. Maybe I could get one of those water containers for drinking water and a kerosene heater and I'll be set. I love living in a small house. I'd live in a garden shed in a minute...cabin, hollow tree...whatever. There should be a drive in this nation to down-size every GD thing we own and do. Conspicuous consumption like a reptile doing some kind of mating display is vulgar and classless. It is the McMansion psyche.  I prefer the tree-fort psyche....much more nimble and far less encumbering.

I have something similar to this. One less thing to take up a lot of room and plug-in. It uses the same batteries as my tools.  I bought it to use at work when I was building out closets because there's no light.  It's to the point where almost all tools are battery operated now - except maybe table saw, compressor, big miter saw.  I have a battery powered nail gun but I don't use it all the time because it's too heavy.  But If I have to do something quick, it beats the hell out of hauling around a compressor and hose.

It's come in especially handy during power outages at home. You can plug a phone charger into it. Of course the catch is you have to already own the wildly over-priced batteries that for reasons none of us understand cost more than the tools themselves. You steal a contractor's batteries, it's like horse thievery in the old west - get a rope.

One person could easily live in a well-appointed garden shed, with low-voltage amenities and like RV appliances.  Realistically, an American collecting social security could move to less expensive white-ruled countries and live like royalty:

The cheapest countries to live in Europe often include Romania, Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, and North Macedonia, offering very low rent, groceries, and daily expenses compared to Western Europe, with some expats finding they can live comfortably on $1,000-$2,000/month, especially in the Balkans and Eastern Europe. Turkey also stands out as extremely affordable, while Hungary and Ukraine are frequently cited for low costs.
Top Affordable Destinations:
Romania: Known for low rent, diverse scenery (mountains, Black Sea), and good value for money, even in the capital, Bucharest.
Albania: Offers turquoise coasts, mountains, and historic towns (Berat, Shkodër) with extremely low living costs, cheap utilities, and affordable food.
Bosnia & Herzegovina: A peaceful nation with history, beautiful scenery (Mostar), and exceptionally low housing costs, sometimes 70-80% lower than the US.
Bulgaria: Another Balkan gem offering very low daily costs, cheap accommodation, and great value for budget travelers and residents.
Turkey: Has prices significantly below the EU average, making it one of the most economical choices in Europe.
Hungary: Cited as potentially the cheapest in the EU by some metrics, with very low living index scores.

I could move to the Eastern Bloc and, with my last name (Stalin), they'd treat me like a god.  There's probably no Albanians left in Albania. They all apparently have moved to Sterling Heights.

It'd be so nice if we could just come right out in the open with it.

Is that going to make weed cheaper and easier to get (I hope)? They'd pretty much have to make it free and deliver it.
might make it available for me….

"Authorities have made their fifth arrest in the alleged pipe bomb plot that was set to take place on New Year’s Eve, taking 29-year-old transgender-identifying Marine veteran Micah James Legnon into custody for his alleged involvement in the foiled plan.....going by the names “Kateri TheWitch” and “DarkWitch She/Her.” He planned to carry out attacks in New Orleans, to accompany the planned New Year’s Eve bombings

"“Freeing the world from American imperialism is the only way to a safe and peaceful future,” the post continued. The name of the group references “Turtle Island,” a name sometimes used to describe North America, and the fact that the continent needs to be freed from the “illegal American empire.”

Gee...it all sounds so plausible. I'm sure  the revolutionaries will enjoy the daily anal rape in prison for the next 30 years - or until they are 'shanked'.....um....Che Lives ....and so on....

He's a comic genius:

White House installs plaques mocking former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden
The Biden plaque refers to him as “Sleepy Joe Biden” and calls him “the worst President in American History.”

"WASHINGTON — The White House has installed plaques on the exterior of the building bashing President Donald Trump's predecessors, including Presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama, and promoting disinformation about their administrations.

The plaques were hung up below presidential portraits that have been on display on Trump’s recently added "Presidential Walk of Fame" in the White House colonnade.

The one placed under the portrait of the “Autopen," which stands in for President Joe Biden's portrait, refers to him as “Sleepy Joe Biden” and calls him “the worst President in American History.” The plaque contains a number of derisive statements about the former president, referring to Biden’s “severe mental decline,” “the Biden Crime Family” and his “Radical Left handlers."

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told NBC News in a statement that Trump wrote the text of "many" of the plaques.

“The plaques are eloquently written descriptions of each President and the legacy they left behind," she said. "As a student of history, many were written directly by the President himself.”

Obama’s plaque names him as “Barack Hussein Obama” — the former president's full name, which is often used derisively in right-wing circles. Calling him “one of the most divisive figures in American history," the plaque details what the Trump administration paints as his failures, including Obamacare, which it calls "the highly ineffective 'Unaffordable' Care Act."

"He presided over a stagnant Economy, approved the terrible Iran Nuclear Deal, and signed the one-sided Paris Climate Accords, both of which were later terminated by President Donald J. Trump," the plaque says.

Obama's plaque also repeats Trump's conspiracy theory that Obama "spied" on his 2016 presidential campaign and says he "presided over the creation of the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, the worst political scandal in American History."
