DTE raised our rates 2 months ago. They requested another rate increase today to “increase shareholder profit”. Then there’s the ‘data centers’…..  it’s not just here….its everywhere. And why are utility customers underwriting “shareholder profit”? Isn’t that a bit much? They could have had the decency to make up a lie…like it’s climate change or something.

So I was having the ai look shit up for me while I was laying out a tile job. At the end, it said "would you like me to script an introduction to help market your services?". I said yes.  So just now, I was watching the local news and there's this annoying Ukrainian roofing contractor that runs his irritating commercials during that time slot. I heard the tv behind me and he said the exact same shit the chatbot scripted for me.   

I'd like to have a recording of a Ukrainian trying to communicate with a bunch of Mexicans in English.

I'm glad to be working again. The winter lasted way too long. I had just been hoping an old customer would call and say they wanted tile done. They live close, they love me, I love them, the drive is like being on vacation. The following day - the day after Easter - I saw that they had texted me on Easter Sunday to hand me a perfect job at the perfect time. It's so nice to work alone again. Quiet. No radios, no one chattering in Italian, no not-getting-paid-anxiety. Plus I'm good enough at layout -  and with a saw -  that I can actually cut a job at my house off a drawing I made and then drive it to the site and stick it all together with mortar - hat-tip to my obsolete training as a draftsman and my trusty MK-101.  I feel so milennial working from home. Today I did drawing, laid out giant tiles with a Sharpie and a t-square, smoked reefer and drank Coca-Cola. It's the way all work days for all God's children should always be - reefer and Coca-Cola.
