I don't think you need to be American to find that headline deeply, deeply unnerving. The whole "turning against" framing feels like a death rattle, doesn't it? Not a shift in opinion but a panic.

I can’t really manage to have a decent vegetable garden. The chickens destroy it, the cats use it as a litter box and the deer and raccoons vandalize it. That’s why I grow flowers instead. Plus we always spent a shitload of money at the nursery every year. I should grow weed or have a meth lab. Those seem like quiet professions, you make your own hours, work from home, etc.

Those old army jeeps….willies, whatever they’re called, had like a 50 hp engine. Over-powering shit just adds weight and burns fuel.

It has uses but they’re over doing it like they have overdone touch screens and ‘smart’ appliances. Refrigerators don’t need WiFi and every gd website you visit doesn’t need an ai “agent” or lengthy, poorly crafted dissertations to answer a two word question.
But whatever the downside of ai, the part where you can make video of your dog talking is vitally important. That makes it all worthwhile.
