Christianity is based on the underlying reality that the Romans, who were the imperial super-power of the day, were just so utterly disgusted by and sick of dealing with all the bullshit crazies in the Middle East that they started killing people. They should have just split. There's nothing there that was worth a damn to them. As Americans, we should really be able to relate to the plight of the Romans back then.
