Forums vs Real Time is a thing. I will never sit here with my foot tapping waiting for your response. I respect you and your life...and get that you travel across the holler between place to place...we both have lives.
Forums allow us to lead our lives and yet communicate like we do.

In that same game they had a chat feature but posts were here and gone, We started using skype on account of it left a record of what was discussed. If you were in a different timezone, asleep, or was away for whatever reason, you could quickly get up to speed on what had happened and been discussed while you were away. Forums are just better.
