Marines are designed as fast attack forces. Getting rid of those heavy,complex and slow Abrams tanks will increase their lethality.
Tanks still have their place but as we have seen in Ukraine, they are now very vulnerable to man portable weapons that are far less expensive. Not to mention artillery that can shoot the wings off a fly.
