Slavery needed an amendment to the constitution.
Being a federalist in thought, I don't mind state marijuana laws or sanctuary cities. Just sayin' that opened a door. There is no mention of immigration in the constitution. Only a court decision made it sorely a federal jurisdiction. Abortion became a state jurisdiction. Interesting.
Even back in the day we knew that the States had to have at least similar laws for the country to be a country. Some laws are dead before they get put on paper but republicans crank them out anyway and taxpayers pay for it.
