Very early #OnThisDay, 23 Mar 1944 , Maureen 'Paddy' O'Sullivan parachutes into occupied France to be a radio operator for the British Special Operations Executive.

The SOE supported the French Resistance. Radio operators were at the greatest risk of capture as their position could be triangulated. O’Sullivan was never captured.."

In World War II 15-year-old British sailor who lied about his age went into a sinking German submarine and along with two other guys who actually died in the flooding submarine he brought out the famous German enigma machine. Which probably took 2 years off the war. Because British code breakers were able to break the enigma code by examining that machine. I believe he and the other two British sailors who were officers both got England's highest military award.
