The best thing about shoe gigs is my shoe-cutting saw: (Attachment Link) 7 1/4" . This is the only one made these days I think. Craftsman used to make a saw this small. I go through one every year or two but they're only a hundred bucks and they are so light and so easy to use it's worth it. I wear hard knee pads, sit in front of that saw cross-legged on the floor, cut a whole floor at once reading of my little note book and then I slide around on my knees with the nail gun. I do it when no one's around because I don't want them to know how fast I can do it or they'll try to clip me on the price.
