The weed store has an 'app'. So I sign on and the front page is: "Your Kind of High - Suggested Picks".  Now I can pay with my debit card online and pick it up. They deliver...but I'm not that far gone yet.

Then you have me, working 3 jobs and up to my neck in debt with the IRS.
You and my wife both want fancy cars. Life's a lot cheaper when you don't give a shit about anything.

Anyhow I salute the forces behind cheap legal weed. It hasn't necessarily made life any better but it's certainly made it more bearable.

It occurred to me that reefer is so cheap in Michigan, it seems likely people would be buying it in quantity and then transporting it out of state and reselling it at a huge mark-up. But apparently there is a 2.5 oz limit per transaction. They scan your license at the door and there's cameras all over the place so they have a picture associated with a name and automobile. It's watched and regulated - for one very good reason - the State wants their cut and they don't want anyone thinking they can cheat.

It's insane that drug companies advertise prescription drugs on television so people looking for relief from the buffet of real and imaginary illnesses vexing them can intruct their doctors what to prescribe based on their self-diagnosis. Surely the doctor will recognize the wisdom of the arrangement, especially since the pharmaceutical rep is sending him to a 'seminar' in Hawaii all expenses paid. They tout these drugs for ten different maladies each.  Ozempic's the new 'fen/phen'. After Oxy, is their anyone left that trusts these companies to behave ethically?
they were caught red-handed being a hundred thousand times worse than El Chapo or Pablo Escobar and they get to walk away with the money and a shrug.

Incidentally.....

Michigan explicitly outlaws the "can refund scam" (commonly known as the Seinfeld bottle scam) where people buy out-of-state containers without a deposit and return them in Michigan for a 10-cent profit per can.

The scam is heavily targeted by Michigan law:The Law: Under Michigan’s Beverage Containers Act, it is illegal to return, or attempt to return, any beverage container that you know (or should know) was purchased in another state or did not have a Michigan deposit paid on it.

*the Seinfeld can scam was a real multi-million-dollar racket.
Without knowing, I will say with 1000% certainty it is/was Arab-party-store-owner related. In their culture, they are not respected among their peers unless they are cheating somehow.

Ticks are bad this year. We put that tick stuff on all the animals. I'm probably dosed too because I get it on my hands trying to squirt it onto 5 of the many beasts that live here. That doesn't matter. I don't know what that's supposed to do. Kill them if they bite you and suck your poison blood?  They ride in on our shoes and on the dog when she goes out. It's usually not a problem if the lawn is kept mowed and those chickens eat them and make at least that contribution to offset the destruction they cause.  This year it's overwhelming.

All my life I never bothered even reading about ticks. Like so many things, to us here in Michigan, the matter of ticks seemed like an "out West" or "Down South" problem that didn't concern us. We take (took) pride in the fact that our winters made it impossible for poisonous snakes and spiders, weird tropical diseases and Spanish-speaking 'migrants' to invade our icy realm. I guess that's over, huh?

New Jersey officials made a half-dozen arrests after a swarm of youngsters descended on a quaint shore town in the latest viral teen takeover plaguing local communities across the country….

….but it doesn’t really make clear….were they ‘teens’ ?….or were they ‘youths’?
