MORE LIKE THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR THEM…
Our grandparents probably said the same thing....of course, there was no race-mixing back then.

Politics does matter and supporting the current crop of republicans gets us no closer to where we want to be. In fact it sets us back decades.

My wife said "You went to the weed store, didn't you? You've been a real prick lately too."  ...but I'm cured of that now.

In 1999, a farmer gave away 87 acres of land to a small Texas city to use as a park. The city sold to a data center developer for $10 million.

In 1999, the Bland farming family deeded 87.97 acres to a public trust (Texas Parks and Recreation Foundation) for a nominal $10, with explicit language in the deed requiring it "to be held in trust for future use as parkland" for Williamson County.
... the city sold it in 2025 to Blueprint Projects (a data center developer) for $10 million—a massive windfall.

The site is now slated for a 135,000 sq ft data center

IMA HOGG (THAT WAS HER REAL NAME) WAS A RICH PHILANTHROPIST IN TEXAS… SHE LEFT ALL THE ACREAGE NECESSARY FOR ONE OF THE LARGEST CITY PARKS IN THE COUNTRY IN HOUSTON…. MEMORIAL PARK…. IN THE 1960S, THE CITY DECIDED IT WOULD BE A GREAT IDEA TO DRILL FOR OIL THERE… AT THAT POINT, SHE REMINDED THEM OF THE FINE PRINT… WHERE IT SAID IF THE PARK WAS USED FOR ANYTHING EXCEPT FOR RELAXATION AND ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE CITIZENS OF HOUSTON, IT WOULD BE RECLAIMED BY HER FAMILY… TURNED OUT DRILLING FOR OIL THERE WASN’T SUCH A GOOD IDEA AFTER ALL HA HA

Nice of him to buy a big boat like that for the crew to live on.  Most folks who own large yachts seldom actually personally use them as compared to some redneck with a cheap jon boat.

Used yachts are some of the best deals in boating, if you have that sort of money.

This is weird. The UP is beautiful. It's much different than down here. It might be part of a different land mass or something. They toss around the term "Canadian Shield". I don't think we're part of that down here.   It's rocky, kind of mountainous but mountains so old that they are nubs. Not that big and totally covered in trees. There's a lot of water, a lot of bears and the people are a bunch of weirdos but there aren't that many of them and they never ever come down here. Winter up there is fkn nuts. It's that 'lake effect' bullshit.

With us, it's not like North and South Carolina...Dakota...Virginia...whatever. There's a vibe. We don't consider one another to be part of the same whole. It's weird. But we are definitely the REAL Michiganders...no question. They have their own customs and we have no reason to try and take anything from them. I have really only been up there maybe half dozen times. I've been to Florida and Arizona way more times.

They have their own food...they have like a different version of white, kind of heavy Scandinavian. You definitely get the feeling they'd rather not have you around if you aren't from there. But it's like that here too so I don't blame them.

You get sick of seeing people coming in and building shit in what was stunningly beautiful countryside. I'm sure it's exactly the same thing they're dealing with. Anyplace nice attracts the same shit...big houses, bratty kids, too many cars, golf courses, strip malls....and then it's like everywhere else - a crowded shithole.  A guy up there told me it was rich people from Chicago that were pissing on their parade.
