A headline like this just warms my soul:

Louisiana Fugitive Jumps Into Swamp is Attacked by Alligator

"Victor Rivas, 40, sustained injuries to his arms and was treated at a hospital before he was booked into jail on allegations of driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest and being a fugitive from adjacent Jefferson Parish."

Rivas... fled as troopers checked him out for a potential DWI arrest.....jumped from an elevated part of Interstate 310 and landed in swampland below, state police said....he was attacked by an alligator."

Well, trump jinxed the Knicks and they lost.
As far as I'm concerned, the only thing that matters less than basketball is soccer...maybe golf. I'd rather watch paint dry.

I feel bad for really young people. This is just the beginning for them.

Agree. The only comforting thought is they really don't know any better. Or, maybe that really isn't comforting at all.

It's actually harder to orchestrate and manage a part-time hustle than one going full-bore.  It's harder to find that kind of sweet-spot volume. I remember the old guys charactarizing it as "feast or famine".  Any time you get anything good going, it turns into 7 days and swallows you. I'm looking for like 15-20 hours, excluding that period from Christmas Eve until tax day, no weekends, nothing more than 20 miles from home, all cash, all indoor, nothing before 10 am,  a fruit platter, assorted candy from the 1960's, soothing music, thc gummies...

It used to be so much easier. We didn't have adults letting us pick our genders. We got marched into a barber shop, picked whatever haircut we wanted and then got a brush cut.

Reruns of Sanford and Son and All in the Family would be very helpful to us culturally at this point in time.

They don't know better. Most of them weren't alive on 9/11 either....or the Iran hostage deal...and a lot of other shit that puts what's going on in the world today in an entirely different context. That's the thing with those idiot college kids in their cos-play palestinian scarves...they think they know and they don't.

They're walking into a world where they can't afford a car, a house, an education or healthcare;  borders mean nothing and government is decided by who gets the most 'likes' on Twitter.  We were worrying riding our bikes, playing baseball and chasing girls. Life was a lot less confusing when school kids weren't being taught to hate themselves by adults that hate themselves.

What we were doing in school when I was a child in the 60's would be called "racist", "Facist"....blah blah blah.  We were taught American Exceptionalism, pride in our immigrant forefathers, Christian morality, love of country, pride in ourselves and   our neighborhoods, obeying the law, that cops and soldiers were the good guys. We said the Pledge of Allegiance, The Lord's Prayer and My Country Tis of Thee. We took our hats off, stood up and put our hands on our hearts when the National Anthem was played - and we STILL DO.

Our heroes were bigger than life - Neil Armstrong...baseball players weren't self-serving  junkies. All of our cities were liveable. There were no broken windows, bulletproof glass, razor wire. None of that is normal. Accepting  massive crime and violence on public transportation, in schools, parks, etc. is not normal.

There is not a single thing about our nation and our culture that has not been made worse for everyone since then.

College was easily affordable. A doctor would come to your house and you could pay them in cash or with a check without taking out a mortgage.   Nobody was being exploited or oppressed. There was more opportunity for more people across the board then than now.
The hate factory has largely manufactured things like 'racism', 'White Privilege', 'equity'.

They used those ridiculous words so many times so badly out of context that they have lost their meaning. All they know is that they hate because their lives suck for one reason or another and they lack the means by which to change it.

The difference between them and us is....we do have the means by which to change our circumstances because we were brought up by the aforementioned  "fascists".

The deal was this...we respected our teachers and the cops because we knew when we got home our parents would deal with us...and the cops and teachers knew that too; they relied on it. That was the foundation of orderly society, safe schools and successful adulthood.

I don't recall an oppressed underclass of young boys begging compassionate all-knowing adults to cut their balls off, dye their hair pink and put them in dresses and nose rings... But I was kind of in the like the Johnny Bench - Audie Murphy kind of circle...so what would I know?

Kids didn't ask to see drag queens or use weird 'pronouns' to refer to themselves. They didn't ask to get to pick whether they wanted to be a range of genders. Adults did that.

.....once again...ADULTS DID THAT.

The DEI crowd is fond of pointing out the difference between "equality" and "equity". Apparently focusing on "outcomes"...the best "outcome". I agree. I would say American culture/society peaked for everyone in all ways in the period between the Korean War and Vietnam. So let's go back to that - practice-wize, but keeping the accoutrements of our day.

There's nothing wrong with being able to have peaceful gathering at county fairs, fireworks gigs, concerts, etc. without having it wrecks by flash mobs of marauding 'teens'. Back then, the state cops and Guard would have handled it with truncheons and tear gas.

Norman Rockwell America - That's the kind of shit that worked. Where I live, it still works. We want it to stay this way.
