"In the United States, open-air cremation is legal only in Crestone, Colorado, according to the US Funerals Online blog. However, only a handful of such pyre services are allowed each year, and they’re exclusively for Crestone residents."

Trump should force the Cossacks to fight the Turks like in Taras Bulba - two birds with one stone.

I don't know if it's cheap. Plus you have to buy a coffin if you have a funeral. Nobody wants to look at a dead body. That is a revolting custom. I think the Jews just bury them right away. It's hot over there.  I read that the practice of packing the house with flowers was to cover the smell originally.
In Bulgaria everybody gets buried the next day.

"Although the state of Michigan does not require a burial vault, most cemeteries in Michigan do require some sort of outer burial container. The outer burial vault prevents the grave from collapsing and, if sealed, can protect the casket."....Burial vault is the same as a septic tank repurposed.

"Water-tightness is essential for the preservation of the deceased's body. While coffins are not meant to completely preserve the body indefinitely, they are designed to help contain bodily fluids and protect against external elements like water or moisture."

Preservation?  Who gives a shit?

It's disgusting what we're doing. How many a day?  Seems like a waste of land. Waste of everything.  I'm going to build my coffin out of scrap wood I pick up on job sites, like the furniture I make...and it will be nicer than those faux-bronze things  they sell everyone. They're like sheet metal or fiberglass...have to be light I suppose.

When we were kids, the Catholics had Sicilian funeral homes or Belgian funeral homes. We went to the Belgians because they were way classier. Plus the Sicilians used to bury extra bodies in the coffins.  But then my niece married one of the Sicilians and we had to switch.  One of my aunts went into the Belgian funeral home one night and started pulling my 17-year-old cousin that died of leukemia out of the box but the Belgians woke up and stopped her.  That's the kind of hysterical shit that went on among the older members of my family.  They were like Old World weird. They probably believed in Vampires too.

My niece lived in the funeral home in an apartment upstairs. It was nice.  I used to visit her. I'd ring a bell in the alley and they'd let me in through the service entrance and I'd have to walk by stiffs on the embalming tables.  The embalmer was a different guy...like a contractor. I bet he was a barrel of laughs.

I don't even want to pay for that. It seems like you shouldn't have to. It should be covered by your property tax or something.

Anyhow. All this talk reminds me that I want to somehow incorporate flaming arrows into my activities this summer.

If you don’t have money, the state will bury you in a pine box.
