"..A 100K salary in 2025 has the same buying power as 53K in 2000. No wonder everyone feels broke the math is insane.."

"...AOC: The exposure to this (AI) industry and investment, I fear, has reached broad levels of the American economy. We could be facing 2008-style threats to economic stability..Should this bubble pop, we should not be entertaining a bailout of these corporations..."

I agree.

It makes me sick. I make me sick. During the Obama depression, I sold the farm field next to my house (at a loss) to this millionaire that's buying up land all over this neighborhood.  I had basically turned the joint into a nature preserve. I kept the pond beautiful and clean, stocked with bass, catfish, perch, bluegill. It would typically take at least 12 hours a week in the summer to "mow the lawn". It was more than that. There were 110 apple trees, the pond is an acre and 20 feet deep, spring-fed, cold.  There's a metal pole barn with a concrete floor and utilities. The two neighbors that border that land loved the way I had it. their decks overlooked the pond. It was like living on the Serengeti. I kept it beautiful. This guy devalued their houses as well with his greed.  He basically bulldozed it flat. All the trees are gone. The pond has turned into an overgrown swamp. There's not much value to the amount of turf he gained for bullshit soybeans and dent corn maybe another 5 acres. I see those deer out there, the turkeys, the mating pair of geese and their offspring that have been coming for years...it's like an atom bomb dropped on their world and I could have prevented it by not selling that land back then. And way back, behind the field, I can see utility workers erecting giant metal poles. I know what's coming. Pretty soon I'll be walking to work. It's a war crime. I'm Adolf Eichmann.

I feel your pain, similar going on here except I had no hand in it other than not having $350K to buy the land.  It ruined this house for me. I reckon I will end up back in the holler and even that neighborhood is starting to build up. Not sure what I will do with myself.

I have seriously thought about finding the poorest county, somewhere declining, not growing, and hiding away there.

I live in a mobile home surrounded by horse farms. Incredibly peaceful and pretty. But only as long as the landlady will rent the place. I'm really at her mercy. The reason I can't get our furnace fixed is because if I complain to her about it she can just toss us out and get somebody else,..she made sure we understood that.. we are supposed to shut up and fix our problems ourselves or we are history..

Jesus. They are cutting up the fields on the road I live. It’s scary. They’re building houses. GD dagos. They’ll turn this beautiful countryside into a whorehouse like everything else they touch. Next thing you know there’ll be Indians and Arabs on Main St.

The landlord where my cafe was wouldn't fix the furnace. I could actually heat that joint with one of those 1500 oil-filled space heaters. The machines gave off some heat and once a bunch of people came in, it warmed up. That greedy prick. I turned that ugly little building of his into a show piece, broke my leg in the process and won an award from the city for neighborhood beautification on the high seas.

My new Apple tablet is coming tomorrow via Amazon. It's the first really decent tablet that I've ever had. Had to finance it for 18 months but I'm probably going to pay it off in four and a half months. You see you can buy a tablet with a big screen and lots of storage but the thing is that damn CPU chip. That's where the real cost is. So those cheap tablets have big screens lots of storage and cheap CPU chips that works slowly at best. The a16 chip in this new Apple I'm getting is blindingly fast especially compared to what I'm used to. Usually I have to wait 5 minutes just to download the damn weather app.
